Jet Stream - July 2004

This is what I am now calling a jet-stream. This photo was taken off the Coast of Labrador, (about half way up) just as the dayglow starting in the morning. The prevailing winds of the time were NW@20-25k. As the tug entered between the two strings of clouds the wind rose abruptly to around 40-45k from the SW (90 degree shift). The wind shifted back to normal after we had passed under the second string of clouds (approx. 2 nautical miles). Also as an added note: The two clouds seen here clearly, could not be seen an hour later, when the sun was breaking the horizon. They ran from one horizon to the other.
